• How does music seduce the audience and change the meaning of a film?
It an seduce anyone subconsciously
- Strange and mysterious
- Creates an hidden imagery and energy that can bring more life to the scene in a film.
- can give the audience a insight into the actors’ thoughts and feelings
- enriches the scene

• What role does sound play in remembering a picture? Give an example from the film or from your own memory.

Star Wars (ex)
- A repeating melody of theme song.
- Emotion and tone
- Remember an image through sound, not just dialogue

• What material were composers given in order to compose the score? How did this process take place?
- cues

• How did the Music Editor “spot” the picture? What is the difference between a ‘streamer’ and a ‘punch’ and how did they help the conductor to create the musical score?
- the composer spots the music by synchronizing the score with he actions in the film.

Favorite Part: The wall camera was very interesting to see up close. I really want to shoot my films with 16mm cameras. I was fascinated by the large collection of the older cameras that were used to film some of the first films and television shows.

3 new things:I learned a lot on the museum field tip but I was mainly impressed with the miniature models that the directors filmed up close to portray the collosal mother ships and building for their films such as star wars and other older films. Growing up in Los Angeles I have been to many film studios and editing rooms, so I had an idea of what most of the tools in the museum were used for. I learned that the control manager at baseball games ha very long and tedious job at every game. I also learned that there is way too much star trek memorabilia that still exists.

Interactive Soundscape

finally done.

Also: Each finger includes sound and video clips

so if you roll over all the fingers every sound will continue

(which allows anyone to create their own music from my experience)

If you want to get the clear version of every clip on each finger- just roll over a finger and do not move your key until the clip is finished.

how you will incorporate the 5 major elements of sound composition into your Interactive Soundscape project

Melody & Texture: I want to have different textures (boards slapping and the different trick sounds as the different layers)

Rhythm & Temps: I want to use a fast and upbeat rhythm so I keep the user awake while he or she is utilizing the site.

Harmony & Texture:I will definitely use sound layers from all the skating footage I shot. I will try to keep a certain tempo based on the sounds of the boards as my friends do their tricks

Form: I want to just play around and see what forms I will use. I want their to be some sortof connection between the beginning and end (as the skateboard is uniform in both sides)

Dynamics: I want the sounds so create and intimate feeling. So the user will be able to get to know the skateboarders on a more personal level.

the 4 sounds (the colored circles) are sound clips that will be used in my skateboard interface. The sound is quite awful, so tomorrow I hope to fix that.

I feel as if in “information architecture” they message is that a designer should be able to make the message clear and well designed, but the design should remain easy to decipher. In my own interface I want the hands to be simple and produce organic sounds of the skates and conversations of my nights in Washington Square. Opposed to the other article “screen”, I feel as if there is no point for me to tailor my interface so it is pleasing and understandable to the masses. I am designing my message to what works for me and hopefully, with its simplistic and interesting subject matter, the message will attract those people who want a closer view of a younger skate life. In Modern Life I can agree that most webpages on the internet are a form of advertising (and mostly these designs are just eye candy). I want my message to be deeper into the personalities of the skaters and hopefully capture their sounds on a skateboard or talks among their peers that sync with each other, instead of just trying to get people to feel “amused” by the site. I am not going to overload the website with information, because an overload of useless imagery and sound is mind boggling and I want the experience to be selective and unique. Both articles will certainly affect my design and I am going to educate my interface users about this personal experience of mine in the most creative way possible.
